Pro of the year

This award is presented to the TPA Professional who has displayed the highest standard of conduct and service to tennis both on and off the court. Areas of consideration include: a high level of proficiency in customer service and leadership skills within their club and community; entrepreneurship; growth and creativity with club programming; an instrumental role in the development and growth of club membership, retention, and team work; as well as an excellent provider of private and group instruction.

Questions to consider in your nomination:

How does the pro demonstrate a high standard of conduct and service to tennis on and off the court?

How does the pro demonstrate a high level of proficiency in customer service and leadership skills?

What is this pro responsible for at the club? How would you rate their skills in private and group instructional settings?

What projects or ideas has the pro spearheaded? What impact has it on the club membership?

How active is this individual in coaching at the club? i.e. What percentage of the clubs’ clinics do they coach? (ie. 20 out of 24 hours). Is the pro responsible for running club tournaments, round robins, house leagues, socials and inter-county leagues? If, so please elaborate.

Does this individual come up with innovative ideas, drills and programs to keep club programming new and interesting?
*
Is the pro responsible for creating programs (instructional/competitive) which can maximize the opportunities for the various levels of club members? If so, describe the club programming and progression of programs.

Does the pro spend additional time contacting members to fill the clubs programs to ensure successful tennis outings?

Did the pro set up a fundraiser which could be used towards the improvement of something at the club?

  Coach of the year

This TPA member must have demonstrated the highest standards in the coaching of players and/or teams, displayed not only through their accomplishments as players, but in their character as well. Areas of consideration include: team accomplishments, player's National/International rankings and/or results, growth and development of performance programs, player improvement and ongoing dedication and commitment to their program/players.

Questions to consider in your nomination:

Which player(s) did they coach?

What notable accomplishments have the players attained under this coach (results, rankings, improvements, etc..)?

How does the coach demonstrate a commitment to the athletes he or she works with?

Is he involved in the talent detection?

Does the coach travel with any players outside Canada? Where and for how long?

To what extent does this coach attend their player’s tournaments?

What is the TDC status of the program that this Coach runs or is involved with?

What makes this nominee an outstanding candidate for the Coach of the Year award?

  Facility of the year

This award recognizes the tennis facility which demonstrates a commitment to the promotion and growth of tennis and is supportive of the TPA by hiring TPA active and certified instructors, coaches or club professionals. Areas of consideration include: hosting certification and professional development opportunities; running Regional/Provincial/National sanctioned tournaments; community service; exhibitions; charity and sectional events; as well as outreach programs to constantly help the growth of our sport.

  TPA Distinguished Service Award

This award is presented to a TPA certified member (coach/professional/community leader) who has provided significant leadership, excellence and dedication to Tennis in Canada. This individual has contributed to the profession over an extended period of time (minimum 10 years).
